For this third portrait, I was beginning to believe my efforts didn’t totally suck, despite failing to achieve the natural-look effect I was aiming for.
In this case the hair was nearly totally black, aside from light effects coming through it, so I broke my own rule and used black watercolour. I think it worked.
The flesh-tones are maybe too soft, and could use a bit more shadow outside of the direct light.
I think there is too much detail, and I should strive for getting the right overall appearance with fewer strokes.
